Active Ingredient Waxsol Ear Drops contain: Docusate Sodium 0.5% w/v in a water miscible base, containing glycerine and water. Contains a mixture of hydroxybenzoate esters 1.7 mg/ml and phenoxyethanol 4.3 mg/ml as preservatives.
Dosage Waxsol should be applied to the ear canal. Before going to bed, tilt the head and fill the ear with Waxsol. Place a cotton wool plug, moistened with Waxsol in the ear. Remove the cotton wool plug in the morning. Repeat the treatment the next night. Unless the ear wax is unusually hard the loosened wax should come out on its own, thereby making ear syringing unnecessary. However, if the problem persists, you should consult your doctor.

What is ear wax? Ear wax is produced by the glands in the skin lining of the ear canal, and its purpose appears to be protective. Occasionally ear wax can build up and harden in the ear, causing problems if not removed. Excessive amounts of hardened ear wax can cause poor hearing, ringing in the ears, or earache. The shape of the ear canal makes it difficult to clean. Because of the delicate nature of the ear, cotton buds and other instruments should never be inserted into it. Waxsol is used to help soften and remove ear wax.

Before you use Waxsol If your ear drum has been previously perforated, or if your ear is sore or inflamed, you must not use this product. Waxsol should be used on no more than 2 consecutive nights. While medicines can have side-effects, the incidence of side-effects associated with Waxsol is very low. If you should experience any pain on application, you should stop using this product. Consult your doctor or local pharmacist if anything unusual happens.
