Lamisil Cream is used to treat fungal infections of the skin caused by types of fungus called dermatophytes (tinea), commonly known as ringworm. Tinea of the feet is commonly known as athlete's foot. Tinea around the groin is commonly known as jock itch. Lamisil Cream is also used to treat yeast infections of the skin. Yeasts are another type of fungus, a common example being Candida albicans. Lamisil Cream is also useful in treating Pityriasis versicolor, a superficial fungus infection of the skin. Terbinafine, the active ingredient in Lamisil Cream, works by killing dermatophytes and by killing or stopping the growth of yeasts.

Active Ingredient Lamisil Cream contains: Terbinafine hydrochloride 1% w/w.
Dosage Lamisil Cream is usually applied once or twice daily. It is important to clean and thoroughly dry the affected areas before applying Lamisil Cream. Apply the cream to the affected skin and surrounding area in a thin layer and rub it in lightly. If you need to apply the cream between your toes, fingers or buttocks, under a breast or armpit, or in the groin region, the area may be covered with gauze after applying the cream. This is particularly useful at bedtime. Lamisil Cream should be used for 1 week or in the treatment of pityriasis versicolor 2 weeks. Even though the signs of infection may disappear after using the cream for only a few days, it is important to continue using it, as directed, for the recommended period. The reason being that if you use Lamisil Cream for only a few days, there may possibly still be some fungus that has not been killed off by the cream and as a result the infection may soon return. See your doctor or pharmacist if there is no improvement in your condition after the recommended duration of treatment.
Contra Indications Lamisil Cream should not be used by people who are allergic to terbinafine or to any other ingredients in the cream.
Reactions Like all medicines, Lamisil Cream may cause some side effects. Some people may experience redness, itchiness or a stinging sensation in the areas where Lamisil Cream has been applied. Although these symptoms are usually harmless, you should neverthless tell your doctor or pharmacist if they occur, because you may have an allergy to the cream.
