Patient Info

If you or someone you know has a scar, you're probably only too aware of how distressing and disfiguring scars can be, and just how seriously they can undermine self confidence. Clinical trials have discussed that managing the discomfort and visibility of scars with a silicone gel such as Dermatix can help to improve patient mobility, appearance and self esteem. Silicone gel is now considered to be the standard in care for raised scars. Dermatix Gel is clinically proven, convenient and economical for raised scar reduction.

Why do scars occur? Scars are the result of normal wound healing. However when the healing process is too aggressive, scars can become unsightly and cause discomfort or disability. Several factors influence how your skin scars: the depth and size of the incision or injury, the location of the wound and also your age, genetic pre-disposition, ethnicity and even gender. Dermatix can be used as soon as the wound has healed to reduce the visibility of a scar.

Types of scars suitable for Dermatix use are Hypertrophic scars that are raised, red scars which do not extend beyond the wound or injury site and Keloid scars which are raised and which extend beyond the original wound or injury.

Warning Avoid extreme heat and cold. Avoid tight and irritating clothing. Be careful when stretching and exercising. Always read the label carefully and use strictly as directed. If symptoms persist see your healthcare professional.
