Gaviscon Tablets - help to relieve the burning pain of heartburn and the discomfort of indigestion. Gaviscon Tablets also help prevent further inflammation by forming a physical barrier to reflux.
The alginate raft helps to keep gastric contents in place, thereby reducing the likelihood of these irritating the delicate lining of the oesophagus.

| Active Ingredient | Each chewable Gaviscon Tablet contains: 250mg Alginic Acid, 85mg Sodium Bicarbonate, 50mg Aluminium Hydroxide - Dried, 12.5mg Magnesium Trisilicate. Each tablet also contains: Saccharin, Mannitol, Xylitol and 23.5mg Sodium. |
| Dosage | Adults take 2 Gaviscon Tablets as required, after meals and half an hour before going to bed at night, up to 4 times a day. The dose may be increased to a maximum of 4 tablets if required. Children 6-12 years: 1 - 2 Gaviscon Tablets as required, after meals and half an hour before going to bed at night, up to 4 times daily. Not recommended for children under 6 years. |

| Reactions | Gaviscon Tablets contain Mannitol and Xylitol. The maximum total daily intake (16 tablets) for adults equates to 9.5mg Mannitol and 2.4g Xylitol. These ingredients may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea. |
| Interactions | Gaviscon Tablets contain sodium. Take this into account if you are on a low sodium diet). |
| Patient Info | Gaviscon Tablets should be thoroughly chewed and swallowed when they become sticky. This may be followed by a drink of water, if desired. Chewing Gaviscon Tablets may be helped if the tablets are first broken and take a little at a time. It is recommended that you do not immediately lie down or go to bed after taking Gaviscon Tablets. |
